Vernissage of International Exhibition of comics created during Summer Camp – Poland edition

Exhibition of comics created during Summer Camp took place in the Main Library of Warsaw and Mazovian Voivodship – same venue that hosted exhibition and award ceremony of winners of Polish edition of comics competition and cordially supported the project the whole time.

Event took place on Saturday, 28th of October 2022 – autumn was already present in full display in Warsaw so it was especially heart-warming and pleasant to take a bit of a time travel to the moments when the art pieces were created – July and Summer Camp, under Portuguese sun in the middle on Sesimbra Natura Park – remarkably inspiring and relaxing surroundings.

The place for Summer Camp and creation of comics was chosen very carefully to match and reflect the theme of the project – Sustainable Development Goals, to underline the connection with nature and the care for nature we as humans should consider priority as a part of global community and for the future generations.

Deeper insight into creative process of the exhibition was provided by Aleksandra Wojciechowska, one of participants of Summer Camp who shared her experiences both from the camp and from the creative process, she also talked about the context of other comics pieces created by fellow participants of international Summer Camp and the challenge of combining arts and  Sustainable Development Goals thematic.

The audience of vernissage could not only hear and talk about comics but also delve into  creative process themselves during comics workshop lead by comic artist and illustrator – Edyta Bystroń.

Worshop participants were on different age groups and it’s fair to say it connected generations and was a family event in few cases too. It was a first time encounter with comics creation for some – the younger ones and we’re hoping the next generation of comic artists is on the rise.
